Environmental management system audit definition

Environmental management system audit means a review, of an environmental management system, that is con- ducted in accordance with standards and guidelines issued by the International Organization for Standardization and the results of which are documented and are communicated to employees of the entity whose environmental management system is reviewed.
Environmental management system audit means a systematic, independent, and documented verification process, conducted by an EMS auditor, which objectively obtains and evaluates evidence to determine whether an entity’s EMS conforms to the requirements of an EMS as defined in this document.
