Design Energy definition

Design Energy means the quantum of energy which can be generated in a 90% dependable year with 95% installed capacity of the hydro generating station;

Further the water available in a carry-over reservoir is very often carried over to the next year due to uncertainty and irregular pattern of rainfall which affects the actual generation in a particular year. Therefore, there is always a mismatch between actual generation & design energy. Accordingly, OHPC power stations have never generated exactly equal to its Design Energy (5676 MU) during any financial year. In most of the financial years, the total generation of OHPC is less than the Design Energy of 5676 MU due to the reasons mentioned above.
