Classroom Observation definition

Classroom Observation means the actual viewing by the evaluator of the employee working in assigned areas during a specific period of time as a part of the evaluation process.
Classroom Observation. The classroom visitation by an administrator for the purpose of gathering information for a classroom observation. Such observations will be conducted openly and with full knowledge of the teacher and may be unannounced. The teacher shall not be required to make any special preparations for the classroom observation. No electronic devices shall be used without the knowledge and consent of the teacher. To assure that the administrator can develop a meaningful impression in regards to performance, classroom observations shall be no less than 30 continuous minutes in length, except that they may be no less than 15 continuous minutes in length for the second classroom observation of a tenure teacher who has received no unsatisfactory designations on the first evaluation. An observation may be 25 continuous minutes if that is the length of the class. CLASSROOM EVALUATION: The Classroom Evaluation form shall be completed by an administrator and based on the classroom observation, and on criteria presented in the Classroom Evaluation form. Letters from parents critical of performance that have not been presented to the teacher may not be used to judge a performance unsatisfactory in any area.
