Vacation Charges. Nurses who use vacation shall be charged only for the number of hours they would have been scheduled to work during the period of absence. In no instance, however, shall vacation leave be granted in increments of less than 1/2 hour except to permit use of lesser fractions that have been accrued. Holidays that occur during vacation periods will be paid as a holiday and not charged as a vacation day. Nurses vacation accruals earned while on paid leave may be used by the nurse with the approval of his/her supervisor without returning to work prior to the use of such accrued leave. Should a nurse become ill or disabled while on vacation leave, vacation leave shall be changed to sick leave, effective the date of the illness or disability upon approval of the supervisor. Such notice shall be accompanied by a medical statement from a medical practitioner and shall be given to the supervisor as soon as possible after the illness or disability occurs.
