Common use of Seniority Outside the Bargaining Unit Clause in Contracts

Seniority Outside the Bargaining Unit. Employees transferred for a temporary period of twelve (12) months or less to a position outside the bargaining unit shall retain and accrue seniority for the term of the appointment. For temporary transfers in excess of twelve (12) months, seniority shall not accumulate after twelve (12) months but shall be retained at that level to commence upon their return. Such return shall not result in the lay-off or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority.
