If no person within the rank needed responds to a text message for overtime within 10 minutes of the message being issued stating that he is available to work, the battalion chief will transmit one text message to all firefighters (including those not on the overtime list) stating the immediate need for overtime. In this instance any individua l within the rank needed, whether on the overtime list or not, is eligible to take the overtime. After the above two methods have been exhausted or by 0645 hours, whichever comes first, the battalion chief/shift commander shall implement the mandatory forceback procedure. 0700 Forceback Employees may be forced back only to cover needed shifts for minimum xxxxxxx. The following method is to be utilized. Force backs will occur utilizing reverse seniority (i.e. junior to most senior). No employee will be forced back more than once in a calendar year until this reverse seniority list has been exhausted. An employee will not accumulate any overtime hours due to a forceback. All employees may be susceptible to forceback utilizing this method. No employee will be forced back two (2) days prior to or two (2) after his/her own time off (see “Forceback” definition). Forcebacks shall be utilized as a last resort. Once an employee is assigned mandatory forceback, he may elect to continue to seek voluntary coverage to replace him. The employee assigned to work the mandatory forceback shall remain on duty until relieved by the employee who voluntarily accepts the overtime.

Scheduled Overtime. Upon If sufficient time allows (more than 24 hours), overtime will be communicated to employees by e-mail and posted at each facility. The eligible qualified unit members will be allowed to sign-up and be awarded overtime by seniority (most senior first) in the affected classification and facility. Employees shall be prohibited from signing up for more than 12 hours of overtime during the first 48 hours of the posting period. After the completion of roll call the first 48 hours of the posting period, the remaining overtime can be signed up for on a first come, first serve basis by all eligible qualified employees at either facility until slots remaining on the original posting are exhausted. The following overtime posting procedures will be followed:  When it is determined overtime is needed, the shift supervisor shall immediately send an email out to all employees. The email will include the facility, date, time, hours of overtime and the date and time of posting. Eligible qualified employees who wish to work the overtime, shall send an email to the shift supervisor group requesting to work the posted overtime. The email shall include the employee’s seniority date. No employee will be forced back two (2) days prior to or two (2) after his/her own time off (see “Forceback” definition). Forcebacks shall be utilized as a last resort. Once an employee is assigned mandatory forceback, he may elect to continue to seek voluntary coverage to replace him. The employee assigned to work the mandatory forceback shall remain on duty until relieved by the employee who voluntarily accepts the overtimepay period.

Scheduled Overtime. Upon completion of roll call Opportunities will be indicated on the most senior company officer working that day will complete the daily weekly shift overtime list schedule board when deemed necessary (DOLPosted in Security Admin). The DOL shall normally be completed by 0900ISDS Coordinator or OIC will announce over the radio that “scheduled overtime has been posted”. The officer ISDS Coordinator or Institution Security Management shall post it on rotating shifts each week so different shifts have equal opportunity. The announcement and posting shall happen at least thirty (i.e. captain, if off then lieutenant, by highest level of seniority30) shall call each fire station and confirm minutes after the participation of personnel. Individuals who elect to be added to the DOL cannot remove themselves once added regardless beginning of the total number of hours they are assigned the following day. (i.e., DOL 07-23-08 for the daily overtime list created on the morning of the shift of July 22 but covering non-scheduled overtime that would occur on the shift that works on the day of July 23, 2008). This list will then be available to be viewed and referenced by all department members and utilized in the event that coverage is needed the following shift. All overtime worked will be properly recorded. 0700 Overtime In the event no employees are available for the daily overtime list or if the daily overtime list is exhausted through the assignment Any posting of overtime, available including additional overtime to fill minimum xxxxxxx added after the initial posting, must allow for the two (2)-hour sign up period and subsequent lottery draw for the designated shift or otherwise not be added or posted until the next shift, beginning at 0700, shall be scheduling utilizing the text messaging system. The battalion chief shall initiate the transmission of a text message to all employees day on the overtime list, within appropriate shift. Within the rank needed, indicating an immediate need for overtime. The first person eligible to take the overtime, who calls the battalion chief back, will be awarded the overtime as long as he can report within two hours. If no person within the rank needed responds to a text message for overtime within 10 minutes of the message being issued stating that he is available to work, the battalion chief will transmit one text message to all firefighters (including those not on the overtime list) stating the immediate need for overtime. In this instance any individua l within the rank needed, whether on the overtime list or not, is eligible to take the overtime. After the above two methods have been exhausted or by 0645 hours, whichever comes first, the battalion chief/shift commander shall implement the mandatory forceback procedure. 0700 Forceback Employees may be forced back only to cover needed shifts for minimum xxxxxxx. The following method is to be utilized. Force backs will occur utilizing reverse seniority (i.e. junior to most senior). No employee will be forced back more than once in a calendar year until this reverse seniority list has been exhausted. An employee will not accumulate any overtime hours due to a forceback. All employees may be susceptible to forceback utilizing this method. No employee will be forced back two (2) days prior hours of the announcement, all security staff interested in overtime may sign up for as many of the posted shifts as they desire and work a one (1) hour minimum for each shift they signed up for, or the overtime will be reposted/announced over the radio if the staff cancels before the twenty-four (24) hour cancelation notice. They must be qualified to or work the desired shift (e.g. does not result in more than a sixteen (16)-hour shift, does not conflict with previous trades). If two (2) (or more) persons are interested in the same posted shift, a lottery draw will determine the winner. If only one (1) person signs up for a posted shift during the first two (2) hours, that person is awarded that overtime. Any posted overtime remaining unfilled after his/her own time off two (see 2) hours may be filled on a first come, first served basis until filled. It is the responsibility of the potential overtime recipient to be present and sign up in person during the sign up period, with the exception of Forcebackon duty staffdefinitionthat may be away from the institution (e.g. on the transport, hospital watch, work crew).
