Responsibilities of Governing Board. The Governing Board shall a) approve an annual budget and work plan, b) approve any and all indebtedness incurred by MERA, c) approve the initiation of any litigation by MERA (not including the authorization of defense brought against MERA or the initiation of a cross-complaint), and d) provide oversight of the Executive Board’s implementation of MERA’s ongoing activities (as set forth in Article V below). In connection with d), the Governing Board retains the ultimate legal authority to undertake any action that state law requires the full governing board to approve and, by majority vote, to direct the Executive Board on a matter or to determine that a task otherwise delegated to the Executive Board shall be handled or reviewed by the full Board.

Responsibilities of Governing Board. The School shall be accountable to the Sponsor for performance as provided in §1002.33(7). F.S., and other applicable provisions of law. This renewal is based on the understanding that the Governing Board will be responsible for the following: The financial and administrative management of the School, including a reasonable demonstration of the professional experience or competence of those individuals or organizations applying to operate the School, or those hired or retained to perform such professional services, and the description of clearly delineated responsibilities, and the policies and practices needed to effectively manage the School. The School Governing Board and those hired or retained to perform such professional services, must continually demonstrate and provide evidence that there are no substantial complaints against the Governing Board or Management Company from former affiliated other Charter Schools. Substantial complaints to be resolved to the satisfaction of the Sponsor.
