Common use of Requests for Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Requests for Parental Leave. The Postdoctoral Scholar shall request Parental Leave sufficiently in advance of the expected birth date of the child or placement date of an adopted or xxxxxx care child to allow the University to plan for the absence of the Postdoctoral Scholar, but the Postdoctoral Scholar shall not be required to provide more than thirty (30) days advance notice. The anticipated date of return from Parental Leave shall be set at the time such leave commences, or if requested in conjunction with a FML taken as Pregnancy Disability Leave, shall be set at the time such Pregnancy Disability Leave commences. In the event Pregnancy Disability Leave is extended beyond the anticipated date by the Postdoctoral Scholar’s health care provider, then the Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to communicate with the University about their new anticipated date of return. Parental Leave, when taken for the adoption of a child or placement of a child with the Postdoctoral Scholar, could commence prior to the date of placement to take care of matters related to the adoption or placement of the child.
