Common use of Policy and Group Grievances Clause in Contracts

Policy and Group Grievances. (a) A group grievance on behalf of two (2) or more teachers may be filed by the President of the Bargaining Unit or designate as named in writing to the Board, at Step II of the grievance procedure within eighteen (18) regular school days following the date at which the facts giving rise to the grievance occurred. The Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations shall convene a meeting not later than ten (10) regular school days following receipt of the grievance. The meeting shall be attended by the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations or designate, and any other administrative staff representative the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations may choose to be present, together with the President of the Bargaining Unit or designate, and at least one (1) other Bargaining Unit representative. The grievor(s) may attend this meeting should either party request such attendance. The Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations or designate shall answer the grievance in writing and submit such answer to the President of the Bargaining Unit no later than ten (10) regular school days from the date of the meeting. Any member of the Bargaining Unit not included in the group grievance shall be entitled to grieve in accordance with the grievance procedure.

The meeting shall be attended by the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations or designate, and any other administrative staff representative the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations may choose to be present, together with the President of the Bargaining Unit Union or designate, and at least one (1) other Bargaining Unit Union representative.
