Common use of Notice of Shift Change Clause in Contracts

Notice of Shift Change. The schedule of employees working full-time may be changed without notice in the event of an unscheduled absence of employees or in the event of an emergency such as a snowstorm, breakdown of machinery, or other instances of force majeure. In all other cases, at least forty-eight (48) hours' notice of change must be given, or four (4) hours' additional pay at straight time rate in lieu of notice will be paid unless the employee voluntarily requests to have his shift changed. The foregoing shall not apply to part-time employees. Notice to part-time employees shall be given as far in advance as possible by the Company. In the event of a revision to the schedule, the onus is on the Company to contact all employees impacted by a schedule change as far in advance as possible.
