Minimum Depths Sample Clauses

The Minimum Depths clause sets a required standard for the depth at which certain work, such as excavation, drilling, or installation, must be performed. In practice, this clause specifies the exact measurement or range that must be achieved, ensuring that contractors or service providers do not cut corners by stopping work at a shallower level. For example, it may require that foundations be dug to a minimum depth to ensure structural stability or that pipelines be buried deep enough to avoid damage. The core function of this clause is to ensure safety, compliance with regulations, and the long-term integrity of the project by preventing inadequate or unsafe construction practices.
Minimum Depths. The minimum cover required in the placement of conduit shall be forty- two inches (42”). Additional depth will be required in ditches, forty-eight inches (48”) and across streams, washes, culvert outfalls, and other waterways, sixty inches (60”). At locations where the conduit crosses other subsurface utilities or other structures, the conduit shall be installed to provide a minimum of twelve inches (12”) vertical clearance at the applicable minimum depth; otherwise, the conduit will be installed under the existing utility or other structure. If, however, adequate clearance cannot be obtained and the conduit must be placed above, steel conduit shall be used. In rock, the conduit depth shall be 36 to 42 inches in HDPE, 24 to 36 inches in steel conduit, 18 to 24 inches in HDPE, PVC or steel conduit and concrete encased. PVC or HDPE conduit will be backfilled with six inches (6”) inches of select materials (padding) in rock areas. Polyurethane channel (Fiber-Rockgard or equivalent) may be used as protective cover in lieu of select material padding. In the case of the use/conversion of existing steel pipelines or existing conduit systems, the existing depth shall be considered adequate.
Minimum Depths. Minimum cover required in the placement of conduit shall be 42 inches, except in the following instances: (a) The minimum cover in borrow ditches adjacent to roads, highways, railroads, and interstate highways is ##MATERIAL OMITTED AND SEPARATELY FILED UNDER AN APPLICATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT## inches below the cleanout line or existing grade, whichever is greater. (b) The minimum cover across streams, river washes and other waterways is 60 inches below the cleanout line or existing grade, whichever is greater. Steel conduit will be placed at all such crossings unless the crossing is directional bored. (c) At locations where conduit crosses other subsurface utilities or other structures, the conduit shall be installed to provide a minimum of ##MATERIAL OMITTED AND SEPARATELY FILED UNDER AN APPLICATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT## inches of vertical clearance and applicable minimum depth can be maintained; otherwise the conduit will be installed under the existing utility or other structure. If, however, ##MATERIAL OMITTED AND SEPARATELY FILED UNDER AN APPLICATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT## inches cannot be obtained, the cable shall be encased in steel pipe rather than conduit. No fiber optic cable shall be buried without being surrounded by conduit or steel pipe. (d) In rock, the conduit shall be placed to provide a minimum of ##MATERIAL OMITTED AND SEPARATELY FILED UNDER AN APPLICATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT## inches below the surface of the solid rock, or provide a minimum of ##MATERIAL OMITTED AND SEPARATELY FILED UNDER AN APPLICATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT## inches of total cover, whichever requires the least rock excavation. PVC or HDPE conduit will be backfilled with 6 inches of select materials (padding) in rock areas. (e) In the case of the use/conversion of existing steel pipelines or salvaged conduit systems, the existing depth shall be considered adequate.
Minimum Depths. Minimum cover required in the placement of conduit shall be 42 inches, except in the following instances: The minimum cover in borrow ditches adjacent to roads, highways, railroads and interstates shall be 48 inches below the clean-out line or existing grade, whichever is greater. The minimum cover across streams, river washes and other waterways shall be 48 inches below the clean-out line or existing grade, whichever is greater. Where conduit crosses railroads, the conduit shall be placed at a minimum depth of 60 inches below the base of rail or below the paralleling drainage ditch, whichever is greater. At locations where conduit crosses other subsurface utilities or other structures, the conduit shall be installed to provide a minimum of 12 inches of vertical clearance under the foreign object while maintaining a minimum cover of 42 inches. In rock, the conduit shall be placed either: (a) 8 inches deep in rock with 36 inches minimum cover; (b) 8 inch deep in rock with a concrete cap and 30 inches minimum cover; (c) 8 inches deep in rock with a 1/4 inch steel plate cover and 24 inches minimum cover or (d) in steel pipe placed on top of the rock with 18 inches minimum cover, whichever requires the least rock excavation. HDPE conduit will be back-filled with 2 inches of select materials (bedding) and 4 inches of select cover in rock areas. In the case of the use/conversion of conduit systems purchased or leased from third parties or salvaged conduit systems, the existing depths shall be considered adequate.
Minimum Depths. The minimum cover required in the placement of Conduits shall be forty-two inches (42”). Additional depth will be required in ditches, forty-eight inches (48”) and across streams, washes, culvert outfalls, and other waterways, sixty inches (60”) or as otherwise required by the permitting entity. At locations where the Conduits crosses other subsurface utilities or other structures, the Conduits shall be installed to provide a minimum of twelve inches (12”) vertical clearance at the applicable minimum depth; otherwise, the Conduits will be installed under the existing utility or other structure. In rock, the Conduits depth shall be 36 to 42 inches in HDPE.
(a) Minimum cover required in the placement of conduit shall be 42 inches, except where field conditions dictate otherwise. (b) At locations where conduit crosses other subsurface utilities or other structures, the conduit shall be installed to provide adequate vertical clearance and the applicable minimum depth can be maintained; otherwise the conduit will be installed under the existing utility or other structure. If, however, adequate clearance cannot be obtained and the conduit must be placed above, the cable shall be encased in steel pipe and HDPE conduit. (c) In rock, the conduit depth shall be: 36"-42" in HDPE, 24"-36" in IIDPE encased in steel, 18"-24" in HDPE or PVC or steel and concrete encased. PVC or HDPE conduit will be backfilled with 6 inches of select materials (padding) in rock areas. MDI Polyurethane channel (Fiber-Rockgard by Chempro, Inc. or equivalent) may be used as protective cover in lieu of select material padding. (d) In the case of the use/conversion of existing steel pipelines or existing conduit systems, the existing depth shall be considered adequate.
