Mandatory Pre-Grievance Conference. The Chief of Police shall host a mandatory pre-grievance conference whenever an employee indicates that they are about to file a grievance as described in this Article. The purpose of the conference shall be to make a last attempt to resolve the issue prior to the commencement of the formal grievance process. The conference will be attended by the Chief of Police, the grievant, Union representation if desired, and any additional staff the Chief of Police requests to be present. The confirmation of the date by letter, fax or email of a pre-grievance conference shall freeze the time limit for filing the grievance. If the grievance is not resolved at the conference, the time for the filing of the grievance resume on the calendar day after the meeting. The parties shall agree on the time limit at the pre-grievance conference, and may modify it by agreement.
