Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons. 16.1 An employee may apply for a leave of absence for personal reasons giving the employer at least fifteen (15) days written notice except in the case of any emergency. The Employer agrees to give reasonable consideration to such requests and to grant same in accordance with the needs of its operations and the demands of its business. Leaves may be granted for up to three (3) months. A leave of absence may be extended in writing by the Company upon application in writing from the employee, provided such application is received at least five (5) calendar days prior to the expiration of the leave of absence. Employees who are granted extended vacation; seniority shall not accumulate if leave of absence is beyond 60 calendar days.
