Instructional Differentials. In determining the ratio of full-time equivalent students to faculty for each of the colleges of the University, the parties acknowledge the necessity for establishing basic instructional differentials and for providing faculty research opportunities. Accordingly, the following basic instructional differentials among disciplinary areas are acknowledged: usually low ratios of students to instructors in hospital supervision of nursing students, on-site supervision of student teacher and medical technicians, instruction in applied music, and laboratory instruction involving complex and hazardous equipment; the mix of lecture courses and laboratory or studio instruction; the mix of small and large classes; and the mix of graduate and undergraduate instruction.

  • Instructional Day 6 The hours of employment defined in Sections A.1., A.2., and A.3. above shall include 7 at least the required number of instructional minutes to qualify for incentive funding 8 provided in Education Code, Section 46201.
