Indian any person who is a member of any Indian tribe, or who is an Alaska Native and a member of a Regional Corporation as defined in Section 3 (g) of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (43 U.S.C. Sec. 1602 (g)), or, for purposes of implementing 25 U.S.C. Sec. 1917, the term shall mean any adopted individual who has reached the age of eighteen and who evidences an intent to or has petitioned the court which entered the final decree of adoption for information on the individual‟s tribal affiliation and for other information that may be necessary to protect any rights flowing form the individual‟s tribal relationship.
