Health Care Professional. An individual with current and appropriate licensure, certification, or accreditation in a medical or behavioral health profession, including without limitation, medical doctors (including psychiatrists), dentists, osteopathic physicians, psychologists, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, certified medical assistants, licensed physician assistants, mental health professionals, chemical dependency counselors, clinical laboratory professionals, allied health care professionals, pharmacists, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others to provide Covered Services. Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) – The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, which was enacted as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and the regulations issued pursuant thereto or as thereafter amended. Health Insurance Issuer – Health Insurance Issuer has the same meaning as that term is defined in 42 U.S.C. § 300gg‑91 and 45 C.F.R. § 144.103. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) – The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and the regulations issued pursuant thereto or as thereafter amended.
