Common use of Election of Stewards Clause in Contracts

Election of Stewards. In order to provide an orderly and timely procedure for the settling of grievances, the Employer acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or elect up to a total of six (6) stewards who must be employees of the Employer during their term of office and report to the same Supervisors as the employees they represent. One (1) additional employee may be appointed or elected and shall be designated as Chief Xxxxxxx. The Union reserves the right to appoint a co-chief Xxxxxxx to assume the duties of the Chief Xxxxxxx in his/her absence or when he/she is unavailable.
