Definition of Probation. Newly hired employees shall be considered as probationary employees for a period of their first six months of employment with the Company. Employees serving their probationary period shall not have seniority under this Agreement, and may be laid off or discharged at the sole discretion of the Company. It is agreed, however, that any such probationary employee shall have access to the grievance procedure provided for herein, but the Company's third step answer to any such grievance shall be dispositive of the issue and final and binding on the parties and the matter shall not be subject to arbitration. Employees retained by the Company after the expiration of their probationary period shall be placed on the seniority list and their seniority shall be retroactive to their latest date of hire.
