Death Prior to Distribution. If the Participant dies before he has started to withdraw installments from his Account, the entire interest in the Participant's Account shall be distributed within five (5) years after the death of the Participant. However, if any portion of the Participant's interest is payable to a designated Beneficiary (within the meaning of Section 401(a)(9)(E) of the Code), then, at the Beneficiary's election, distributions may be made over the life expectancy of such designated Beneficiary. Such distributions must begin by December 31 of the calendar year following the calendar year of the Participant's death. However, if the sole designated Beneficiary is the surviving spouse of the Participant, distributions need not commence until the later of December 31 of the calendar year in which the Participant would have attained age 70 1/2, or December 31 of the calendar year immediately following the calendar year in which Participant died. For purposes of this section 5.7, payments will be calculated by use of the return multiplies specified in Section 1.72-9 of the Income Tax Regulations.
