Assignment Policy. The University will attempt to honor requests from non-freshmen Residents for accommodations, but accommodation preferences are not guaranteed. The University reserves the right to assign more occupants to a room than the established capacity on a temporary basis when the demand for housing exceeds the spaces available. Furthermore, the University reserves the right to assign roommates, to change room or hall assignments, and/or to consolidate vacancies by requiring Residents to move from one accommodation to another in the event such reassignments are determined to be necessary by the University. The University also reserves the right to assign a new Resident to a vacancy that may occur in the residence halls at any time. No prior notice of a new roommate to the Residents sharing that residence hall space is required. THE DEPARTMENT OF RESIDENTIAL LIFE WILL ATTEMPT TO PROVIDE FALL SEMESTER ROOM ASSIGNMENTS AND ROOMMATE INFORMATION BY AUGUST 1 TO NEW RESIDENTS WHO HAVE SUBMITTED ALL REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS AND PAYMENTS BY THE INITIAL CLOSURE DEADLINE OF THE ONLINE APPLICABLE CAMPUS HOUSING PORTAL. Failure to receive an assignment does not cancel the Agreement. Residents who do not receive assignments before leaving for the University should check with the Department of Residential Life upon arrival at the University. Unless written notification of late arrival has been received by the Department of Residential Life, Resident’s room assignment is subject to being cancelled at 9:00 am on the first day of classes if the Resident has not checked in by that time. If possible, reassignment will be made upon arrival. However, the cancellation of a room assignment or Resident’s failure to check in by the required time does not in any way affect a Resident’s obligations under this Agreement.

The University reserves the right to to: assign more occupants to space; authorize or deny room and roommate changes; and require a room than the established capacity on a temporary basis when the demand for housing exceeds the spaces available. Furthermore, the University reserves the right to assign roommates, to change room or hall assignments, and/or to consolidate vacancies by requiring Residents student to move from one accommodation room/apartment or residence hall/building to another in the event such reassignments are determined to be necessary by the Universityanother. The University also reserves However, the right to assign reassign space can be limited by the student to: (a) apply only to Northern View Community or (b) only apply within the residence halls, by limiting the contract to only apply to (a) Northern View Community or (b) residence halls. If the new placement has a different room rate, the new rate shall automatically be applied. Open beds will become available throughout the residence hall system during the year. The residents of rooms with a vacant space may have the choice to guarantee the room as a single for the remainder of the academic year, if offered, based on capacity considerations. To buyout the second side of a room, the student is charged the single rate for their respective building, prorated according to the date that we guaranteed single occupancy for the remaining balance of the contract. The provision for a double room buyout is subject to availability and is not valid for spaces within Northern View Community or New Hall.
