Common use of Abandonment of Grievance Clause in Contracts

Abandonment of Grievance. An employee may abandon a grievance by written notice to the designated officer of the Council responsible to reply on behalf of the Council at level one of the grievance procedure. An employee who fails to present a grievance to the next higher level within the prescribed time limits shall be deemed to have abandoned the grievance, unless the Council after consultation with the representative is of the opinion that the employee was unable for reasons beyond the employee’s control to comply with the prescribed time limits.
