Saturation Index definition
Saturation Index means a mathematical representation or scale representing the ability of water to deposit calcium carbonate, or dissolve metal, concrete or grout.
Saturation Index means a value determined by application of the formula for calculating the saturation index in Table 5, which is based on interrelation of temperature, calcium hardness, total alkalinity and pH which indicates if the pool water is corrosive, scale forming or neutral.
Saturation Index means a mathematical calculation, based on the interrelation of temperature, calcium hardness, total alkalinity and pH, that predicts if pool water is corrosive, scale-forming, or neutral. It can also mean a number that indicates whether water will have a tendency to deposit calcium carbonate scale from a solution, or whether it will be potentially corrosive. When correctly balanced, the water will be neither scale-forming nor corrosive. Also see "Langelier Index".
