  • Unused Personal Leave Since a number for the available personal leave days has been established, a basic discussion will need to be had regarding unused personal leave days. Naturally, these differ from vacation days since the Employer will not always be required to pay the Employee when personal leave is taken.   • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days (up to a maximum of 16 hours) of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of 7.2.5(a) and 7.2.5(b) are met.

  • Jury and Witness Leave An employee will be granted paid leave for time spent responding to a summons for jury duty, time spent participating in the jury selection process, time spent actually serving on jury, or when subpoenaed to appear in court. An employee will not be terminated, disciplined, threatened or otherwise subjected to adverse action because of the employee’s receipt of or response to a jury summons. The employee shall present documentation of his or her jury service to the building principal or an immediate supervisor. If the subpoena is directly related to the employee’s school duties, the employee will be released for court appearance without loss of leave. Other court appearances due to personal situations will be deducted from the employee’s personal business leave.
