Common use of Unpaid Leave for Family Purpose Clause in Contracts

Unpaid Leave for Family Purpose. Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, an employee, including a casual employee, is entitled to unpaid carer’s leave for each permissible occasion when a member of the employee’s immediate family, or a member of the employee’s household, requires care or support because of a personal illness or injury affecting the member or an unexpected emergency affecting the member. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of (viii)(b) and (c) are met.
