Although the effect of absence of teaching and/or research faculty members is difficult to measure, unauthorized or unjustified absence from class, research, counseling activities or other scheduled duties in excess of five (5) consecutive scheduled or regular work days is sufficient basis for withholding salary for the work days absent pending investigation and/or an acceptable explanation of the circumstances of the absence.
