Common use of TEACHER RIGHTS Clause in Contracts

TEACHER RIGHTS. A. Pursuant to the Michigan Public Employment Relations Act, MCL 423.201 et seq., the Board and the Association acknowledge that every teacher employed by the Board shall have the right freely to organize, join and support the Association for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining or negotiation and other concerted activities authorized by the Act for mutual aid and protection or to refrain from doing so. The Board and the Association agree that they will not directly or indirectly discourage or deprive or coerce any teacher in the enjoyment of any rights conferred by this Act and that they will not discriminate against any teacher with respect to hours, wages or any terms or condition of employment by reason of membership or non-membership in the Association, participation or non-participation in any lawful activities authorized by an act of the Association or in connection with collective bargaining negotiations between the Board and the Association or the institution of any grievance, complaint or proceeding under this Agreement with respect to any terms or conditions of employment.
