Sick Leave Credit All employees will be able to draw on a block of nine days' sick leave when they commence employment. If all or part of this block of sick leave is used it will be paid back as sick leave is accumulated. If an employee ceases employment and has a negative balance in sick leave credits, this amount will be deducted from his/her final paycheque.
Sick Leave Credits Regular employees who have completed their probationary period will accrue sick leave credits at the rate of one day per month to a maximum of 156 days. Upon completion of their probationary period, an employee will be credited with sick leave back to the employee's starting date. Upon request, an employee will be advised in writing of the balance of their sick leave credits.
Vacation Leave Credits Full-time and part-time employees will be credited with vacation leave accrued monthly, according to the rate schedule and vacation leave accrual below.
Sick Leave Credit-Based Retirement Gratuities 1) A Teacher is not eligible to receive a sick leave credit gratuity after August 31, 2012, except a sick leave credit gratuity that the Teacher had accumulated and was eligible to receive as of that day.
Restoration of Sick Leave Credit Employees who have been separated from state service and return to a position (except as temporary employees) within two (2) years shall have unused sick leave credits accrued during previous employment restored.
Sick Leave Usage A. Sick leave may be used for an employee or an employee's child, spouse or parent's illness or injury, hospitalization and appointment pertaining to health.
Sick Leave Definition Sick leave shall be defined as time off the job because of: illness; bodily injury; exposure to a contagious disease; attendance upon members of the immediate family; death in the immediate family; and diagnostic treatment, dental procedures and optician services when such services are performed by duly licensed practitioners.
Sick Leave Defined Sick Leave means the period of time an employee is permitted to be absent from work with full pay by virtue of being sick or disabled, exposed to contagious disease, or because of an accident for which compensation is not payable under the Workers' Compensation Act.
Expiration of Sick Leave Credits Employees who are absent due to sickness beyond their accumulated sick leave credits shall be placed on an unpaid leave of absence until they are in receipt of long-term disability benefits. Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.
