Common use of SHIFT CHANGES NOTICE Clause in Contracts

SHIFT CHANGES NOTICE. ‌ An employee’s shift shall not be changed solely to avoid overtime. Normally, an employee shall be given at least five (5) calendar days' notice of a shift change. In the absence of such notice, the employee shall receive a five percent (5%) differential over base salary for each day in which the notice was not given. At the employee’s discretion, the employee may work with the Department so as to adjust his/her work schedule in order to reduce the amount of overtime worked by the employee without the City being required to pay the five percent (5%) differential.
