Common use of Seniority Definitions Clause in Contracts

Seniority Definitions. A. State seniority is defined as the total length of continuous service which an employee has in a position or succession of positions within the employ of the State of Ohio, its political subdivisions, its public libraries or public library districts dating back to the employee's first date of hire, except as provided in the following paragraph. For employees originally appointed on or after July 1, 1992, credit for state seniority shall be granted only for service in positions paid for by warrant of the Auditor of State. Under the terms of this Agreement state seniority shall only be used for the purpose of determining annual vacation scheduling and reduction in the work force.
