School Work Year. 6.1-1 In contract year 2012-2013 and for each subsequent year during the term of the contract, the school year shall consist of not more than: (a) One Hundred Eighty-Two (182) student class days; (b) Seven (7) scheduled in-service days; one of the scheduled in- service days at the beginning of the year must have no meetings scheduled so teachers may use it for classroom preparation. Schools on a semester schedule will work this in- service day as assigned by the Administration; (c) One (1) non-scheduled in-service day: each teacher may elect to use the one (1) day at the beginning of the school year for classroom preparation or one (1) day at the end of the school year for classroom closing. No meetings shall be scheduled for such teachers during such day. (d) One (1) evening activity of not more than three (3) hours; (e) Four (4) Act 80 parent-teacher conference nights of not more than three (3) hours each. Employees will be afforded release time equal to evening conference time. Additional evening conferences may be scheduled if agreed upon by the Superintendent and the Association. Compensation for these additional evening conferences beyond the four (4) Act 80 parent-teacher conference nights will be at the Extra Professional Activities Rate (Appendix E). Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, employees of the bargaining unit assigned to the High school will not participate in Spring Conferences but will have full student days instead; (f) Two (2) days of orientation for new teachers. The Association will be granted 2 hours from one of these days to work with the new teachers; (g) The Administration may schedule special events/activities outside of the normal workday. Employees who agree to participate shall be paid additional compensation at the Extra Activities Rate (Appendix E).

The district shall be responsible for scheduling seven (7) hours per year during non-school time for professional development activities determined by the district’s Professional Development Committee. The offerings shall be posted at the beginning start of the school year for classroom preparation or oneand shall state a date by which such activity must be completed. To the extent possible, activities shall be offered more than once during the year. The total number of staff development hours required, when combining staff development days and staff development activities/assignments shall be at least thirty-six (36) hours (or at least thirty [30] hour from 2009-2012). Employees will not be required to make up staff development days on which the employee utilized a sick, personal or emergency day. Employees may be required to make up staff development activities/assignments as per request from the District or Building Administrators. The staff development activities/assignments may be scheduled during the term of work year, after school hours, Saturdays, or summer months. However, no staff member shall be required to attend any staff development activities/assignments scheduled after school hours, during summer months, during holidays, or on weekends. Those staff members choosing to participate in staff development activities/assignments may select from teacher academies, study groups, curriculum development, action research activities, independent study, or other prior approved activities as determined by the contract, the school year shall consist of not more than: (a) One Hundred Eighty-Two (182) student class days; (b) Superintendent. It shall coincide with the Supervisory District of which Unatego Central School is a member except that: 1.
