Common use of Promotion and Transfers Clause in Contracts

Promotion and Transfers. The employee with the most seniority shall, if the employee meets the qualifications set for the position by the Company, be transferred to fill a vacancy in a different classification. Nothing in this Article precludes the Company from hiring applicants from outside sources where no qualified employees apply and are accepted. A vacancy shall be posted for a minimum of seven (7) days prior to filling such a vacancy from any source. If requested by the employee in writing to the Human Resources Department, the employee shall, within fifteen (15) days of the request, be advised in writing of the status of the application for the posted position in question.
