SUPPRESSION. 1. Section 6.3 of the Agreement supersedes all Vallejo Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations concerning layoff and recall. Moreover, Section 6.3 of the Agreement supersedes all prior language, agreements and past practices relating to layoffs, layoff and recall sequence, and the effects of layoffs and recalls. The layoff and recall provisions herein form the parties' complete agreement on all matters related to layoff and recall. The provisions of Civil Service Rule 19.1 and Rule 20 shall not be held to apply to employees covered by this agreement in connection with any and all matters and disputes regarding abolition and reinstatement of positions, reduction in personnel, layoff, seniority, and all other matters referenced in Civil Service Rule 20.
SUPPRESSION. When an employee is serving as an FTO for another employee who is in the same classification, the FTO will receive additional compensation equal to five percent (5%) of regular base salary. The additional five percent (5%) will be for each shift during which the employee performs FTO duties.
SUPPRESSION. Promotional processes will be implemented as follows: Eligibility to participate in the promotional process for Captain of Fire Suppression shall be in accordance with the following criteria: Under normal circumstances a minimum of eight (8) years service with the Niagara Falls Fire Department shall be eligible to qualify for the rank of Captain, subject to operational needs. It is understood and agreed that “enrollment” for the purposes of this clause must result in successful completion of the courses within 5 years from the date of promotion. The Suppression Captain promotional process shall consist of the following courses: Legislation 101 NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II Basic Fire Code – Div. B part 2 & 6 The course content is intended to follow the term of this collective agreement. Promotion to Captain Fire Suppression will be made from the list of those qualified as Acting Captains as the need arises. The Acting Captain with the highest seniority will be promoted first and subsequent promotions in descending order. Under normal circumstances, all Suppression Captains, with a minimum of three (3) years of service in the rank of Captain, shall be eligible to qualify for the rank of Platoon Chief, subject to operational needs. It is understood and agreed that “enrollment” for the purposes of this clause must result in successful completion of the courses within 5 years from the date of promotion. The Platoon Chief promotional process shall consist of the following courses: NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II Basic Fire Code – Div. B part 2 & 6 High Rise Course IMS 100 & 200 CEMC site management The course content is intended to follow the term of this collective agreement.
SUPPRESSION. This Agreement cancels and supersedes any prior verbal or written agreement between the parties hereto pertaining to the subject matter hereof.
