- Leave of Absence, Health. Section 1 - Term A leave of absence without compensation will be granted for a period not to exceed one year to employees because of physical or mental disability or illness. The teacher shall provide documentation from a qualified professional supporting a request for leave. A consecutive leave of one year may be granted at the discretion of the Board. The leave shall be for absence without pay, authorized for a period of thirty (30) days or more. Upon return from the leave of absence, a position for which the employee is qualified will be made available.
