Common use of Health and Safety Representatives Clause in Contracts

Health and Safety Representatives. The Employer and its Employees will comply with Part 5 of the WHS Act – Consultation, representation and participation in relation to the establishment of a health and safety committee. To ensure a timely resolution of issues in relation to WHS, all parties may be represented on the health and safety committee. A standing invitation will exist for the Union to assist in the voting up of Health and Safety Representatives and the forming of safety committees. Health and safety representative/s (HSR) shall be elected by the Employees on the job, via a show of hands vote conducted by a representative of the Union and shall be subject to recall by a similar process. Parties covered by this Agreement recognise the important role of HSRs. The HSRs have a key role in the early intervention in health and safety issues under this Agreement. The HSRs shall be allowed to consult with the PCBUs, Unions, principal contractor or persons acting on his/her behalf, on matters directly concerned with the safety of workers, and promote the safe conduct of work generally.
