Automation of Bargaining Unit Work. The Employer will notify the Union in writing of any intention to automate work of the bargaining unit which may impact employee staffing levels. If the Employer intends to automate such work, the Employer shall provide the Union with no less than thirty (30) days’ notice that it intends to request bids or proposals to automate where the decision would result in displacement of bargaining unit members. During this thirty (30) day period, the Employer shall not request any bids or proposals and the Union shall have the opportunity to submit an alternate proposal. Nothing in this Article shall prevent the Employer from continually analyzing its operation for the purpose of identifying cost-savings and efficiency of operations.

  • Protection of Bargaining Unit Work The Employer shall not assign work normally performed by members of this bargaining unit to persons outside the bargaining unit, to the point that it directly results in the termination, layoff or reduction in normal hours of any bargaining unit member The Employer shall not enter into any agreement that restricts or purports to restrict in any way the employment of and assignment of work to Nurses covered by this Collective Agreement without prior consultation and discussion with the Union’s Labour Relations Officer for the life of this Agreement.   • Non-Bargaining Unit Employees Employees outside the bargaining unit will not perform work that is normally done by employees in the bargaining unit. However, nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as prohibiting foremen from doing work for purposes of employee instruction and evaluation, and equipment assessment, provided in so doing a lay-off of bargaining unit employees does not result, or in the case of an emergency when regular employees are not available, provided that every reasonable effort is made to find a replacement.
