Architecture Metadata Service Sample Clauses

Architecture Metadata Service. The EUDAT joint Metadata service is working as a fairly independent component. The only interference with the various metadata provider sites within and outside of EUDAT is that they need to support OAI- PMH and offer their metadata via this port. We see three different types of providers: (1) for all data that is stored in the EUDAT Simple Store Service metadata needs to be provided, (2) for all data that is stored in the Safe Replication Service metadata needs to be provided and (3) separate communities may want to provide their metadata based on separate agreements. non-EUDAT commuities This figure indicates the architecture of the metadata solution which is fairly independent of all other services, which relies on the support of OAI-PMH at all sites and makes use of fairly standard type of technologies. Safe Replication Common UI Faceted Browsing Full-text Search Metadata Store OAI PMH Index mapping rules Simple Store Important for the EUDAT MD service is that the metadata records need to include a reference to the stored data objects to allow immediate access. The metadata service itself follows standard setups and involves standard technology components such as OAI-PMH, XM-DB, mapping rules, CKAN, etc. Since this is a normal choice we will not make statements about this in this document. Different XML stores, indexing machines and faceted browser tools (SLAR) may be used. Again iRODS does not play a role here except that a community being data provider may store its metadata in the iCAT database. This is a decision of the community center, which we need to accept.
