Common use of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Clause in Contracts

Alcoholism and Drug Addiction. 21.01 If either the Union or the Company identifies an employee who is addicted to alcohol or drugs, the parties agree to cooperate in assisting the employee to obtain treatment and rehabilitation provided the addiction is made known to the Company and acknowledged by the individual involved prior to a discharge notice and is a first time addiction. An employee will be entitled to Weekly Indemnity Benefits during a period of addiction rehabilitation provided she is under the continuing supervision of a qualified professional and is undergoing active treatment at a hospital or recognized treatment centre which prevents her from working.
