Maternal definition

Maternal means pertaining to a woman whose pregnancy is considered by a physician to be high risk, who is in need of critical care services related to the pregnancy, and who is being transferred to a medical facility that has the specialized perinatal and neonatal resources and capabilities necessary to provide an appropriate level of care.
