Substance Abuse Professional definition

Substance Abuse Professional. (SAP) means a qualified person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
Substance Abuse Professional or “SAP” means a licensed physician (i.e., a medical doctor), or a licensed or certified psychologist, social worker, employee assistance professional, or addiction counselor (certified by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors Certification Commission), with knowledge of and clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of drug or alcohol-related disorders.
