Coating operation definition

Coating operation means the use of a spray booth, tank, or other enclosure or area, such as a hangar, for the application of a single type of coating (e.g., primer). The use of the same spray booth for the application of another type of coating (e.g., topcoat) constitutes a separate coating operation for which compliance determinations are performed separately.
Coating operation means those activities in which a coating is applied to a substrate and is subsequently air-dried, cured in an oven, or cured by radiation.
Coating operation means using a spray booth, tank, or other enclosure or any area, such as a hangar, for applying a single type of coating, for example, primer. Using the same spray booth for applying another type of coating, for example, topcoat, constitutes a separate coating operation for which compliance determinations are performed separately.

Examples of Coating operation in a sentence

  • Coating operation means equipment used to apply cleaning materials to a substrate to prepare it for coating application (surface preparation) or to remove dried coating; to apply coating to a substrate (coating application) and to dry or cure the coating after application; or to clean coating operation equipment (equipment cleaning).

Coating operation means equipment used to apply cleaning materials to a substrate to prepare it for coating applica- tion or to remove dried coating, to apply coating to a substrate and to dry or cure the coating after application, or to clean coating operation equipment. A single coating operation may include any combination of these types of equipment but always includes at least the point at which a coating or cleaning material is applied and all subsequent points in the affected source where organic HAP emissions from that coating or cleaning material occur. There may be multiple coating operations in an affected source. Applications of coatings using hand−held, nonrefillable aerosol containers, touchup markers, or marking pens are not coating operations for the purposes of this subchapter.
