Unplanned absenteeism. Where a Cleaner is identified as having an absenteeism level higher than average or where there is a specific pattern of absenteeism, the relevant manager or officer should meet with the employee to discuss the circumstances surrounding their absence. The Cleaner may choose to include the Union in this meeting.

Unplanned absenteeism. Unplanned absenteeism shall be closely monitored with the aim of reducing unplanned absenteeism. Where a cleaner is identified as having an absenteeism level higher than average or where there is a specific pattern of absenteeism, the relevant Manager / Officer shall investigate the circumstances, including required compliance in accordance with ministerial Directives relating to Sick Leave and Attendance – Recording and Reporting Requirements issued by the industrial relations Minister in accordance with section 54(1) of the Public Service Act 2008. If necessary, the relevant Manager/Officer should meet with the employee to discuss the circumstances surrounding their absence. The cleaner may choose to include the Union in this meeting.

  • Excused Absences Absences will be excused only under the following circumstances.

Such requests are to be submitted as far in advance as possible with a minimum notice of four (4) weeks except in cases of emergency or if the Employer determines that service needs and staffing requirements can accommodate a leave on shorter notice. A written reply will be given as soon as possible. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Except in unusual circumstances, a leave of absence other than for educational reasons will not be granted until one year’s continuous service has been completed.

  • Paid Leave of Absence Upon request an employee shall be granted a leave of absence with pay for:

  • Paid Leaves of Absence Paid leaves of absences granted under this Article shall not exceed the employee's normal work schedule.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.
