Common use of Special Pay Clause in Contracts

Special Pay. The Employer may designate a position for special pay in the following circumstances: When a unique configuration of work requires skills, duties, or working conditions beyond those typically required of comparable positions; To alleviate employment problems such as recruitment and/or retention; When failure to grant special pay could result in retention problems and seriously jeopardize University operations; and To prevent salary inversion or compression problems with other classes in the same or related series which have been granted special pay.
