Rig Rate and Sub Contractor Provisions. The provisions of Articles 9, 11 and 12 do not apply to employees paid the “subcontractor employee” or “welder with rig” rate. The rate specified includes overtime, vacation and statutory holiday pay. Rig welders must supply their own flame/ spark resistant clothing (i.e. Leathers) The wage rate is to be negotiated between the Employer and Union at a Pre-Job Conference as per Article 26. All subcontractors are required to remit to the Union, such dues as prescribed by the Union. The Employer is authorized to and will deduct such dues and remittances from the subcontractor employee’s invoices and remit them to the Union on their behalf as per Articles 7.01, 16.01, 17.01, 17.02, 18.01.

The rate specified includes vacation and statutory holiday pay, CPP, EI and WCB. All subcontractors are required to remit to the Union, such dues and contractual fees as prescribed by the Union. The Employer agrees to deduct such dues and remittances from the Subcontractor’s invoices and remit them to the Union on their behalf as per Articles 7, 16, 17, and 18. It should be noted that the Union negotiates the hourly rate for Welders and/or DSP Welders. The Union does not negotiate the hourly charge for the supply of the truck or welding trailer. The difference between the Welding/DSP rate and the truck or welding trailer is to be determined or negotiated between the Employer and the Rig Welder directly.
