Retention Policy. The decision to retain a student in the present grade shall be based upon a consideration of the overall welfare of the student, (i.e., carefully weighing academic, social, and emotional factors). The principal, in consultation with the parents/guardians and faculty, shall make the final decision regarding retention. In the event that retention is under consideration, the following guidelines should be applied:
