Common use of REIMBURSEMENT FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE Clause in Contracts

REIMBURSEMENT FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE. The State agrees to provide for the uniform administration of current procedures for the reimbursement to employees for personal property damage or destruction arising out of the course of their em- ployment. Amounts allowed shall be based upon the reasonable value of the property involved and payment shall be made against a release. An employee will submit his/her written claim to the Business Manager in the institution in which he/she is employed. The Business Manager will have fourteen (14) calendar days to honor or deny the claim. If the claim is denied, or there is no response to the claim at the institutional level within the time limit, the claimant may appeal the decision to the State Claims Board within thirty (30) days from the date of the denial. The claimant will be provided a hearing at which time he/she may present evidence to substantiate his/her claim. This process is authorized under Title 5 M.R.S.A. §1510(A).
