New Hire Trial Service. Newly hired workers shall serve a six (6) month trial service. Upon completion of satisfactory service in trial service, a worker shall become a permanent worker and receive a step increase. Thereafter, step increases shall be granted annually after each year of satisfactory service until the worker reaches the top of the pay range. MOCs, temporary and project limited duration (including internship) workers who are hired into a permanent position shall serve a six month (6) month trial service period. After six (6) months of satisfactory service from the date of hire the worker shall receive a step increase, which shall then be granted annually after each year of satisfactory service until the worker reaches the top of the pay range. Workers who began their position as limited duration will be credited with that time for purposes of trial service and step eligibility.

  • TRIAL SERVICE Section 1. Each employee appointed to a position in the bargaining unit by initial appointment or promotion shall, with each appointment, serve a trial service period.

Except for those employees in an in-training appointment, all other employees with permanent status who are promoted, or who voluntarily accept a transfer or demotion into a job classification for which they have not previously attained permanent status, will serve a trial service period of six (6) consecutive months.
