Leave With Pay for Family. Related Responsibilities Employees may utilize accrued lieu time, or accrued vacation for situations of Emergency Leave as recognized under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000. Employees who qualify may take an unpaid leave for Family Medical Leave, pursuant to the Employment Standards Act. Employees who qualify may also be eligible for Compassionate Care Benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act.

Leave With Pay for Family. RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES For the purpose of this Article, family is defined as spouse (or common-law partner resident with the employee), child (including xxxxxx child or child of legal or common-law partner), or parent (including step-parent or xxxxxx parent), and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
Leave With Pay for Family. RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES The total leave with pay which may be granted under this Article shall not exceed forty-five (45) hours in a fiscal year. Subject to clause the Employer shall grant leave with pay under the following circumstances: to take a family member for medical or dental appointments, or for appointments with school authorities or adoption agencies, if the supervisor was notified of the appointment as far in advance as possible; to provide for the immediate and temporary care of a sick member of the employee’s family and to provide an employee with time to make alternate care arrangements where the illness is of a longer duration; for the care of a sick member of the employee’s who is hospitalized; to provide for the immediate and temporary care of an elderly member of the employee’s family; for needs directly related to the birth or to the adoption of the employee’s child; to provide time to allow the employee to make alternate arrangements in the event of fire or flooding to the employee’s residence. to provide for the immediate and temporary care of a child where, due to unforeseen circumstances, usual childcare arrangements are unavailable.
