Common use of LEAVE OF ABSENCE - UNION BUSINESS Clause in Contracts

LEAVE OF ABSENCE - UNION BUSINESS. A leave of absence without pay of up to two (2) years will be granted upon request to an employee who has been elected or selected to a full-time office or position in the Union. The employee so elected or selected shall endeavour to give two (2) months’ notice but not less than thirty (30) days’ notice to the Employer. Further leave may be granted to an employee elected or selected to a position in Local 2424, upon request, or for an employee elected or selected to another office or position in the Union, by mutual consent. Seniority shall accrue during the employee’s leave of absence. The employee shall also be allowed to continue with all the employer benefit plans in accordance with 22.07. Any such request for an extension shall not be unreasonably denied by the Employer. The employee shall be reinstated in their former position or a job of at least equal position and salary.
