A Long Term Occasional Teacher who is absent from assigned work by reason of a summons to serve as a juror or a subpoena as a witness in any proceeding to which they are not a party or one of the persons charged shall be paid the difference between the normal earnings and the payment, less expenses, they received as a juror or as a witness.
