Host Range. The host range is the range of host species or cell types which a particular virus, bacteria, or parasite is able to infect or parasitize. Factors to consider include whether or not the organism is zoonotic or if it infects only humans or only animals or plants; whether the host is present in Canada; whether the host is of economic importance; and whether the organism has been modified to narrow or increase the scope of the host range.
